Winter 2014 Showcase open for submissions

the zen space

The Winter 2014 Showcase is open for submissions. See the Submission page for details of how to get in touch. You only have until the end of the month!

This time, as far as possible, I would like to populate this Showcase with writers who have not featured in the zen space before. So I am asking you who have for a special, if unseen, contribution. Do you know someone whose writing of haiku, ‘small stones’, or micro-poetry you think is excellent, and whom I have yet to discover? If you do, then point them in our direction, forward the details of this post to them, encourage them to make a submission. In fact, please feel free to go on doing this service for me. I shall be very grateful, as I hope to feature the best writing around.

questions and zen

two wonderful publications have gone live recently and due to the kindness of some very lovely editors,
a few of my poems have been included. it is time (past due) for thanks!

first, a ‘thank you’ to  marie marshall  for including me in  the autumn 2012 showcase  on  the zen space.   do stop by for a leisurely stroll … then on your way home, drop into   amazon   and order marie’s  new novel Lupa!   everyone needs her own copy.     congratulations, marie!!

and a ‘thank you’ to dale wisely for including   my poem   in   questions,  the new mini-issue at   right hand pointing.   I’m so happy to be able to share that space with fellow poet-friend   deb scott   and other awesome writers. it’s a great read; don’t miss it!

Love is a douce country

Love is a douce country, spreading down
from woods and shadows to the bright barley-fields, oat-fields.
There are storms, but these are rainbowed away,
gone and golden-skied before evening.

feathered poets

hello, my lovely poet-friends!

to celebrate poetry month, I will be posting (here, on this blog) small stones/ haiku/ micropoems written by other poets. it’s my (crazy) way to participate in the ‘Couplets: a multi-author poetry blog tour’ offered up by Joanne Merriam. If you send me one (or more!) poems, I plan to post one poet a day with a link to whatever you wish (your site?). if you have a book/ chapbook to promote, I will link to that as well. I’ll call these posts ‘feathered poets’ and plan to add a blogroll/ info page soon.

If you’re interested, please send me what you’d like me to post to —

aewerren(at)yahoo(dot)com. please put “April Couplets” in the subject line. I’ve had a wonderful response already — it should be an exciting month!
